Tool Reviews

This site’s default position is to run AI locally. When a hosted tool genuinely earns your money anyway, it goes through the same filter as our models: the company is verified, real customer reviews are checked, and the free local alternative is always cited first — even when that means telling you not to buy anything.

The methodology — and the brands we rejected

Nine brands were examined for this launch, in August 2026, on three criteria: whether the company and the product are real and stable, independent customer reviews (Trustpilot, Reddit, G2 — rating, volume, and consistency across platforms), and the absence of contested business practices. Three were rejected. In the interest of transparency, here they are, with the reason found at the time of our check:

PopAiTrustpilot sits at 1.7/5: refund requests are refused despite a stated 14-day policy, auto-renewal can’t be cancelled from the account, and support goes unanswered after repeated emails.
Base44Trustpilot 2.8/5 on 783 reviews, with a recurring billing pattern — duplicate subscriptions created silently across workspaces, a cancellation flow users describe as broken, support tickets closed unanswered — serious enough that a third-party site exists solely to help people cancel. The Wix acquisition ($80M, June 2025) confirms the company is real; it doesn’t offset the pattern.
WegicOnly a handful of independent Trustpilot reviews at the time of our check — too thin a sample to judge — combined with recurring complaints about slow performance and a restrictive refund policy in the reviews that do exist. Re-examination planned once the sample is large enough to mean something.

Two of the six brands published above (Transkriptor, InVideo AI) are reviewed and scored, but don’t carry a live affiliate link yet — we’ll add the sponsored link once their Impact.com partner program is active, without touching the verdict. Rejected brands are re-examined periodically; a young product can mature.

Our reading grid

A hosted tool only earns its keep in three situations: the workload is too heavy for your own hardware (measure it with the configurator), the feature doesn’t exist in the open-source world, or the volume would tie your machine up for too long. In every other case, a free local LLM does the job — that’s the whole point of our guides. The cost calculator gives you the break-even point between local and API for your own usage.

Transparency. The buy links on these pages are affiliate links (Impact.com platform): if you subscribe, BestLLMfor earns a commission paid by the brand, at no extra cost to you. It influences neither the selection, the scores, nor the order they’re presented in. No brand reviews a page before it’s published. About this site.
